I just received the book cover for Campfire Song Stories!

This is an exciting moment, I think, for any author: the book cover reveal. In this case, with images on the cover by all five young illustrators, I find it particularly engaging. I’m delighted by their wonderful work. One of them, Clara, is just twelve years old! Lucy and Aderyn are both 18 and new high school grads; aspiring children’s book illustrators who can add their first published work to their resumés. Yuliana in Venezuela illustrated two stories for me; this is her first published professional work as well (she’s twenty). And Megan, a dear friend who has more artistic talent in her little finger than most of us will ever enjoy, at thirty-something has through this book been paid for her art for the first time. Follow her audacious ducks as they stick their mischievous beaks into the other stories as well.

I’m delighted with one special feature: the scannable links for the songs, sung for us by eleven-year-old Madelyn England. As the back cover says, beware! My grandchildren have been singing these songs a lot! They watch Madelyn and sing along again and again until they have each song down.

As far as I know, the book will launch in November, so you’ll be able to order it for your pre- and early-readers in time for Christmas (ages 3-8). I’ll let you know when I have a publication date.

I hope you love this book, a collection of six stories co-authored by my daughter Karis. I hope her quirky humor will make you and your littles laugh out loud. Bringing Campfire Song Stories to you has been pure joy. As the proverb goes, “A happy heart is good medicine.”

With love,

Debra

    1. I’ve been wondering the same thing, Roberta! I’ve asked the Lord whether he can let her see it. And to give her a hug for me.
