Tips for hosting a book party

Because of a variety of commitments, I’m not able to travel to promote Facing the Faeries 1898–at least not right now. So I’m inviting you to hold a book party in your home, and I will be delighted to join by Zoom to talk with your guests! Contact me if you want to do this and with your questions: 412-996-6856, debrakornfield@gmail.com.

Here are some ideas for your party:

  1. Invite friends who like to read. My books are available in both paperback and ebook.
  2. Tell them what you enjoyed about the Cally and Charlie Series.
  3. Choose passages from the books to read aloud at the party, to give people a feel for the books.
  4. If you like, serve Irish treats. I’ll send you simple recipes by email.
  5. If you like, play the Charlie and Laoise playlist as background music. Here’s the link: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLPKlZ6WXGYq8ucSEeMrwTbofoYg4xU08J
  6. Point out that each book includes discussion questions. Ask whether anyone wants to get together again to discuss the books. They should know that the books build on each other, so they’ll appreciate them more if they read them in order.
  7. If you want me to participate in your Cally and Charlie party through Zoom, send me the date and time and I’ll prioritize doing this. I can set up the Zoom call and send you the link. I can give a brief talk about writing the books and answer questions from your guests.
  8. Have all three books available for your guests to see. If you don’t have them all, I can send them to you. If they want to make a purchase, ask them to do so on Amazon at the party, if they can. If they plan to order later, ask them to let you know when they do. If you prefer to make a single order yourself, collect payment and a list of names, etc. so you can distribute the books when they arrive. On Amazon each book costs $15.00 plus tax and shipping (or Prime). If they are willing to write a review, I would be grateful.
  9. I’ll reimburse you $5.00 for each paperback order and $2.00 for each Kindle order as my appreciation for your work.
  10. Have fun!

I hope you’ll try this! Look forward to hearing from you.

Debra
