I’m asking because people have reacted two opposite ways, but I can only publish one version. Literary agents have universally told me to take them out. They say people don’t like anything that slows down their reading. So I’ve removed about 200 Irish words and expressions, but I feel a little bit sad. I think the text loses some of its charm. I would love to know your opinion! The first chapter, which you can read here on this site, is an example of leaving them in. The revised version retains the ye instead of you, and the word eejit, but removes the rest.
I want to know what you think!!
Thanks,
Debra
